Description

For ~fuzypurplehippykitty's contest.

I know I said I was going to bed but I was so caught up in this, before I knew it, its 5 am. D: Working on this picture was soooo much fun. I could keep on adding details but I guess I better stop here.

Haha, today is the last day of 2009 guys! Quick! Do something crazy!

When ~fuzypurplehippykitty said we could draw anything just with victorian styled clothing I just had to think Steampunk. Its basically a fantasy/modern form of victorian and one of the most awesome styles you'll see.

Oh yeah, and beware my zelicopter. Muahaha. >3

HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!

First thing i have to say: love the colours. It's my favourite pallete; reds, yellows, browns, ochres.... Very fitted for the steampunk because of the copper, leather and all the other elements that are involved.
vision
I like it. It's very dinamic and attractive to the eye. The long and thin canvas gives it a sense of height and emphasises the distance that exists between the action and the zeppelin flying in the sky. The arrangement of clouds also add to the depth of the image. A very effective arrangement of characters as well, though i think that maybe a little more detail in the background (a couple of buildings or trees) would make it just perfect [this is just my opinion, guys!]

originality
i cant rate it 5/5 because what may be original to me might not be for someone else! There are so many approaches to a theme that all could be considered original. I really like the idea, though. Two very similar yet different styles meeting together... oh, how many ideas can you get for that

Technique
More, you know i love your colouring and shading techniques, honey. They're exquisite. There only thing i would suggest is maybe more defined shadows. They are too subtle on some parts and i think that more contrast would certainly add impact to the piece.

Impact
As said before, i think more contrast would be good. Darker shadows, brighter light.... it'd do wonders. Maybe even try to play with different lights; it looks like sunset, so why not try orangey-brown lights and shadows?

Just remember, dont be afraid to have a play around iwth colours you've got amazing skills, and with my lineart im sure you can do wonderfull pieces (and yes, this might be me suggesting another collab piece )
